Which Melbourne LGA has the most train stations in it?

Taking a break from talking about station names, we now look at some data I have compiled.

The data determines how many train stations (Served by Metro and V/line) are located in each LGA.

There's a table below, although you can look at the sheet I made here.

Some notes

- There are three stations included on this list (Cheltenham, Flemington Bridge, and Highett) that are located within two LGAs. I have counted these stations twice, one for each LGA they are in.

- Boroondara and Stonnington Councils are both tied for the highest amount of stations for any LGA.

- Manningham does not have any stations, so it was not included in this list.

- Port Phillip is the LGA with the least amount of stations, with only two (Balaclava and Ripponlea).

- Melton is the LGA with the least amount of Metro stations, only having Diggers Rest.

- Cardinia and Melton are tied for the LGAs with the most stations exclusively served by V/Line, Cardinia has Nar Nar Goon, Tynong, Garfield, and Bunyip, while Melton has Caroline Springs, Rockbank, Cobblebank, and Melton.

Hi there! This post is the second part of a multipart series documenting the origins of the names given to stations that are apart of the Melbourne Metro network. This week's post will cover the fairly quiet Williamstown Line, which will include stations shared with the Werribee line, such as Newport and Yarraville. Station Names on Melbourne's Upfield Line

And now we return to the names of Melbourne's train stations. For this part, the Upfield Line will be covered! Now let us cover the thirteen open and one closed station on this line! Macaulay  Macaulay is named after nearby Macaulay Road, which runs just south of the station. Flemington Bridge An odd name, Flemington Bridge is named after the bridge that carries Mount Alexander Road over the Moonee Ponds Creek . The name of Flemington is something that I have already covered in an earlier blog post, which you can find here .  Flemington Bridge's name has nothing to do with this bridge over Flemington Road Flemington Bridge originally opened as juat 'Flemington'. Royal Park Royal Park Station is smack bang in the middle of Royal Park. The name seems to have been inspired by the Royal Parks of London , which are named as such due to being owned by members of the Royal Family.
